Where we agree

Both collect everything guests capture through a QR code with no app and no account, both keep uploads at original quality, both support photos, video and recorded voice messages, and both can hide uploads until a reveal moment the couple chooses.

Where we differ

How long you keep the album

This is the difference that matters most. Pix's storage window runs 6 months, 1 year or 2 years depending on plan, after which their own FAQ states the gallery is permanently deleted - they email a warning first, and keeping it longer means upgrading. What you keep forever is whatever ZIP you remembered to download. TBT keeps event albums without an expiry date, because a wedding album that evaporates on a timer is not an album.

Limited roll versus unlimited uploads

Pix defaults to unlimited photos and videos, with film roll mode as an option the couple can enable, including an optional shot cap. TBT only works one way: a limited roll, no previews, no retakes. That is a philosophical difference rather than a feature gap - unlimited uploads produce more photographs, a limited roll produces more deliberate ones.

Price and when you pay

Pix runs $49 to $89 per event, paid upfront, with the longer storage windows on the dearer tiers. TBT is $149 flat, paid after the wedding only if you choose to develop the album. Pix is cheaper on the day you buy it; TBT costs nothing until the photographs already exist and you have seen them.

Choose Pix if…

You want unlimited uploads rather than a constrained roll, you like their AI selfie search, or the lower upfront price decides it - and you are comfortable downloading your ZIP before the storage window closes.

Choose TBT if…

You want the real disposable-camera constraint rather than an option you could switch off, you want the album to still be there in ten years, and you would rather pay after seeing it than before.
